Gorman & Company expanded their portfolio into the hospitality management industry in 2013 with our first hotel in Milwaukee, WI. We have built a management team of veteran hospitality professionals specializing in various areas of hotel operations. Our well-rounded hospitality management philosophy focuses on creating a unique experience for all that cross the threshold of our hotels. The hotels within our portfolio are strategic historic rehabilitation projects of key buildings within their communities. We have embraced the historical significance of each of those buildings, renovated each with modern day comforts, and strategically added a team of engaged hospitality professionals to deliver positive, memorable experiences at our three award winning hotels.

Each hotel offers an extensive food and beverage service to meet all guest needs from restaurant and bar to extensive banquet and meeting facilities. The Brewhouse Inn and Suites in Milwaukee, WI and The Stella Hotel & Ballroom in Kenosha, WI are both independent hotels. Our newest hotel, Embassy Suites Rockford Riverfront in Rockford, IL is a franchised property with Hilton. All three hotels offer authentic travel experiences and shareable adventures.

Keanen Kopplin
General Manager, Brewhouse

Local celebrity turned hospitality professional, Keanen has been pursuing his passion in hotel and restaurant hospitality for over 20 years.

Beginning as a grill “chef” at a restaurant that encouraged visitors to grill their own steak, Keanen knew from that moment that this industry would be a breeze. Flash forward through a few different hair styles and pant leg widths, he has put down his guitar and happily landed as a Hotel General Manager with Gorman & Company at the Brewhouse Inn & Suites. Through his years of hotel and restaurant service, Keanen has gained proven leadership expertise in hospitality operations, sales, and staff development.

Mike Carstedt
General Manager, The Stella, Kenosha WI

Prior to joining The Stella, Mike worked for Wyndham Corporate for 6 years, while living in Boston, MA for 4 of them. During his tenure with Wyndham Mike traveled the country opening/closing hotels, oversaw renovations, trained, and onboarded new GM’s and performed audits all while directly responsible for his own hotel located in the Boston area. Mike enjoys spending time with family and friends, fishing, cooking, live music, a good coffee porter, and anything near or on the water.

Vincent Bucci
General Manager, Embassy Suites, Rockford Riverfront

Vincent’s passion for hospitality began 40 years ago, he opened and operated full service properties with Hilton, Hyatt, Adams Mark, as well as opening and operating Morton’s of Chicago restaurants.

Vincent received his CFBE designation from AHLA. In his leisure time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Susan, his two sons, and hiking with his Golden Doodle Bonnie Blue.

Robert Phillips
Executive Chef at Embassy Suites

Chef Robert is an energetic, passionate culinary professional with over 40 years experience creating and preparing exceptional food from farm to table to international cuisine. Robert is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY.

Chef Robert has successfully operated many hotel, resort, and local restaurant kitchens and when not cooking, he consults. In his leisure time he loves long rides on his Harley Davidson and playing golf.

Carolyn Mathey
Director of Sales, Stella Hotel & Ballroom

With 15 years of diverse hospitality experience, Carolyn feels sales is her true passion. She thrives on the opportunity to better know our guests and learn what has attracted them to the area.

Born and raised in Kenosha and growing up with Lake Michigan as her neighbor, she has a love for water, boating, and travel. Her past careers have allowed her to explore some very wonderful places in the United States as well as Europe.

Kelly Plath
Director of Sales, Embassy Suites, Rockfrod Riverfront

A graduate from Western Illinois University, Kelly began her hospitality career at the Clock Tower Resort in her hometown, Rockford, IL. She spent eight years at the Hilton Garden Inn, Rockford and grew that operation to its highest level of event sales.

Kelly became the Director of Catering with the Embassy Suites, Rockford Riverfront in 2019 and has since, proudly accepted the promotion to Director of Sales. She is raising two beautiful daughters, enjoys live music, and travel.

Tara Wurtz
Director of Sales & Marketing, Brewhouse

Tara has been a part of the hospitality industry for nearly 30-years beginning as Director of Catering Sales for two full-service properties in Madison, WI. She also worked for IHG, Marriott, Hilton, Best Western, and Choice Hotels.

She earned her Certified Hospitality Sales Professional accreditation in 2022 and was nominated for Director of Sales Award in 2019 for Cambria Hotels. Tara is extremely passionate about historical preservation, representing a huge part of history at the Brewhouse Inn & Suites is very near and dear to her heart.
