Gorman & Company expanded their portfolio into the hospitality management industry in 2013 with our first hotel in Milwaukee, WI. We have built a management team of veteran hospitality professionals specializing in various areas of hotel operations. Our well-rounded hospitality management philosophy focuses on creating a unique experience for all that cross the threshold of our hotels. The hotels within our portfolio are strategic historic rehabilitation projects of key buildings within their communities. We have embraced the historical significance of each of those buildings, renovated each with modern day comforts, and strategically added a team of engaged hospitality professionals to deliver positive, memorable experiences at our three award winning hotels.

Each hotel offers an extensive food and beverage service to meet all guest needs from restaurant and bar to extensive banquet and meeting facilities. The Brewhouse Inn and Suites in Milwaukee, WI and The Stella Hotel & Ballroom in Kenosha, WI are both independent hotels. Our newest hotel, Embassy Suites Rockford Riverfront in Rockford, IL is a franchised property with Hilton. All three hotels offer authentic travel experiences and shareable adventures.

Meet Laura

Laura is a hospitality industry veteran with an impressive 30 plus year career that has seen her rise through the ranks from her first career hotel position as an Assistant General Manager of a Hampton Inn in the suburbs of Milwaukee to leading a portfolio of multi-branded properties with The North Central Group.

A graduate of UW Stout in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Laura has honed her skills in various roles, including serving as the Revenue Manager for The North Central Group and developing the revenue management platform in its infancy.

Her leadership extends beyond her current hospitality division responsibilities; she has also led the Property Management division at Gorman & Company overseeing the operations of the multi-family housing portfolio and that leadership team.

Joining Gorman & Company in 2009, Laura worked alongside the development, design, and construction teams in the development of the hotels and restaurants within the portfolio. She subsequently developed and leads the hospitality management team with her passionate leadership style driven by achieving results through a focused culture of engaged team members in every position.

Michael Carstedt
General Manager, The Brewhouse Inn & Suites, Milwaukee, WI

Before joining The Brewhouse Inn & Suites, Michael served as General Manager at our sister property, The Stella Hotel & Ballroom, for nearly three years. He brings over a decade of hospitality experience, including six years with Wyndham Corporate, where he opened and closed hotels nationwide, led renovations, trained new GMs, and managed his own Boston property. Outside of work, Mike enjoys time with family and friends, fishing, cooking, live music, a good coffee porter, and anything on or near the water.

Tony Beer
General Manager, The Stella Hotel & Ballroom

With over three decades of dedication to the hospitality industry, Tony has built a distinguished career working with premier hotel brands including Marriott and Hilton. His journey has taken him across California, Illinois, and Wisconsin where he held key roles in operations and guest services.

A proud resident of the Kenosha area for the past 25 years, Tony combines deep regional knowledge with a passion for delivering excpetional guest experiences.

Amie Wilkerson
Regional Manager

Amie brings 30 years of hospitality experience with top brands like Marriott, Hilton, and Gorman & Company’s portfolio of hotels. Respected for her hands-on leadership and focus on team development, Amie drives operational excellence across The Brewhouse Inn & Suites, The Stella Hotel & Ballroom, and Embassy Suites Rockford. She is committed to strategic growth and even more so, to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Kelly Plath
Director of Sales, Embassy Suites, Rockfrod Riverfront

A graduate from Western Illinois University, Kelly began her hospitality career at the Clock Tower Resort in her hometown, Rockford, IL. She spent eight years at the Hilton Garden Inn, Rockford and grew that operation to its highest level of event sales.

Kelly became the Director of Catering with the Embassy Suites, Rockford Riverfront in 2019 and has since, proudly accepted the promotion to Director of Sales. She is raising two beautiful daughters, enjoys live music, and travel.
