Recently, Choice Neighborhoods opened Soluna Apartments in Phoenix’s Edison-Eastlake neighborhood. About 80% of the 177 homes at 19th and Roosevelt streets are affordable by HUD standards.
“Soluna is the first phase of a five-phased undertaking that will represent the single largest public housing redevelopment effort in Arizona history,” said Brian Swanton of affordable housing developer Gorman & Co.
Gorman is also working on the second phase of Rehoboth Place in west Phoenix at 26th Avenue and Hazelwood Street, which will add about 66 affordable rentals. The homes are for people earning between 30% and 60% of the area’s median income.
