Centerline on Glendale Opens; Marks Turning Point in Arizona’s Housing Landscape

May 9, 2025 | Accessible Affordable Housing, All News, Arizona, Resident Impact

In just under two years, Centerline on Glendale became Arizona’s first affordable housing community financed using state low-income housing tax credits. With a staggering 368 units, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, Gorman & Company, along with city, county, and state leaders, gathered in March to celebrate the opening of this pioneering and collaborative affordable housing community just west of downtown Glendale.

Key Features

  • 368 units of mixed-income housing
  • Public-private partnership and investment
  • On-site commercial kitchen through Local First Arizona
  • Serves families, seniors, Veterans, and individuals with disabilities
  • Serves households earning between 0% and 80% of the area median income (AMI) – that’s $476 per month – $2,054 per month
  • Modern amenities include on-site supportive services, splash pad, dog park, business incubation space, fitness center, walking path, and electric vehicle charging stations
  • Photovoltaic panels on the community’s carports cover 100% of the electricity used within the common areas
  • Public transit proximity

This project is proof that affordable housing developments do more than just provide housing – they build stronger communities where families can access essential amenities and collaboratively build a foundation to thrive.

It’s the same sentiment Gorman & Company’s Resident Services team carries when providing permanent supportive housing. Through referral-based care, community partnerships, on-site programming, and management collaboration, they help residents feel safe and empowered to build brighter futures, access better jobs, and become active participants in their community.

The Power of Public-Private Partnerships

This $122 million development is part of Maricopa County’s larger and impressive $500 million initiative to make housing more accessible throughout the Valley. The county used its funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to provide support for the project, helping to bring this shared vision to life.

Identified as one of the city’s and county’s top priorities, Gov. Hobbs says Centerline on Glendale symbolizes a significant step forward in ensuring affordable housing options across the state.
